Not really sure when HBO's new series "True Blood" will go on the air, but until then here are the opening credits. Kinda' long for my taste. Still, the song's really cool, it fits the theme well. Oh, and is it me or are opening cretis becoming extinct? Me - I'm excited to see Anna Paquin.

I've got to admit the premise for the series sounds somewhat weird and interesting, in a "dead like me kind of way", so I hope it'll live up to my expectations, though vampires seem to be very popular these days (Twilight...) Guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Gimme more Britney!

The league had announced that all NFL players would wear a patch all season with the initials "GU" and the number 63, his former uniform number to honor the Hall of Fame guard and longtime union leader, who died two weeks ago.

It originally announced they also would be stenciled on the field for the season opener at Giants Stadium between the Redskins and Giants and for the Denver-Oakland game at Oakland, where Upshaw played his entire 15 seasons.

It extended that Tuesday to all games. A video tribute to Upshaw will also be shown.

Britney Spears will open the VMA Awards Sunday night in Hollywood.

There has been much speculation about what Britney's role would be on the show and now we know. I can also confirm Britney will not be performing.

The pop princess herself told us Wednesday afternoon, "How can I not be there to kick off their 25th VMAs? I'm excited to open the entire show, to say 'Hi' to my fans and to be nominated," also noting, "MTV has long played an important role in my career."

The President of MTV Networks Music/LOGO/Films Group, Van Toffler, said he was excited to see what Britney would do at the VMAs: "Britney has done everything from perform with a snake, lock lips with Madonna and prove that what happens in Vegas doesn't always stay in Vegas. I can't wait to see what she does to kick off this year's show."

Spears is poised to take home top honors at this year's VMAs with nominations in three categories, including Video of the Year for "Piece of Me." Spears is pictured above in a promo for the VMAs with actor Russell Brand.

First of all, the stage blew me away!  I totally wasn't expecting a "big festival stage" like this - whoa!

After our set, we figured out that both sets of keys that were brought for the van were locked inside.  Oops!  No fear - Lloyd Bruce to the rescue!  He got inside in no time.

I took a few TwitPics during the day, but the service was really sketchy... this one I called "the Pic pic" (sigh).

We came up with a new stage name for Verk... wait for it... wait for it... (anticipation building)... it's "X-emo!"

This pic was taken during a surprise encore song after Casting Crown's lead singer, Mark Hall, was given a Native American quilt in honor of their performance.  If you look close enough, you can see the quilt draped on Mark's back (click for larger view).  Hearing the stories the band shared about ministering in Pine Ridge earlier in the day, listening to Mark share his heart between songs, and hearing the band pray for the region and the Dream Center was inspiring.

HA NOI — The State Securities Commission (SSC) is making a new trade regulation, that will be submitted to the Government for approval.

The draft, which will allow investors to open more than one account, enabling them to both buy and sell the same shares in a single day’s session, has raised conflicting opinions.

At present, an investor is permitted only one account in a securities firm and may only place a purchase or sale order of a certain share through that account in any given trading session.

Though the regulation is expected to level the market playing field, there is worry it could lead to price manipulation.

Nguyen Son, head of the Market Development Department under the SSC, said that, once operational, the regulation would help spur trade and balance capital flow in the stock market.

According to Nguyen Hoang Hai, general secretary of the Viet Nam Association of Financial Investors, the open trading method would first benefit investors.

"Investors will have the option of opening accounts through different brokerages, trying different services and selecting the best. So, brokerage houses will be forced to promote their services. Service competition happens everyday, and only the strong firms will survive; the weak will be eliminated."

This would ensure top quality services for investors, Hai said.

However, the draft is also causing worries regarding share prices.

"When an investor is allowed to buy and sell a share in a session and have more than one account, he/she can place a series of purchase or sale orders to affect the share’s price," said Hoang Manh Quan at Tan Viet Securities.

Quan also said that the opening of more than one account could result in virtual accounts, which would artificially cause prices to escalate.

According to securities firms, it’s not difficult to recognise virtual accounts, but a modern technical system, and an understanding of a customers’ financial power could help regulators detect them.

Vu Bang, SSC’s Chairman, said that the commission would regulate the stock market to prevent price setting and other securities investment violations. "Violators will receive stricter punishments," added Bang. —
